It is carried out with a qualitative method that leads to content analysis as the end of the research activity. In addition to using literature studies, field studies were also carried out to the location that became the object of the study. The final result concluded that the Makam Mahligai in Barus, North Sumatera, is an important historical site that represents the beginning of the entry of Islam into the archipelago since the 7th century AD. Barus as a large trading port became the center of cultural and religious interaction between Muslim traders from Arabia, India and China with the local community. The Makam Mahligai has tombs with various types of tombstones that existed at the time as historical and cultural and archaeological evidence that can be realized as a religious tourist destination. The potential of the Makam Mahligai as a religious tourism destination is huge, because it combines spiritual, historical, and cultural aspects. It can even provide opportunities to enrich the spiritual experience of visitors, introduce local traditions, and encourage economic growth of the surrounding community. For Future Research, it is recommended to conduct a more in-depth study involving community participation and the role of local government in the development of religious tourism. The study is motivated by Barus’ historical position as an ancient city and a major port on the west coast of Sumatra, which has been identified as the entry point of Islam into the archipelago since the 7th century AD. Using a qualitative approach through field studies and literature review, the findings show that Barus played a significant role in the arrival of Islam through interactions between Muslim traders from Arabia, Persia, and India with local communities, especially via marriage and social assimilation. This interaction gave birth to an early Muslim community that lived harmoniously and left archaeological traces such as the Papan Tinggi and Mahligai tomb complexes, indicating the early presence of Muslims. Thus, Barus not only served as a geographical gateway but also as a center of early Islamic civilization integrated with local culture. The Indonesian government formally recognized Barus’ role by inaugurating the Barus Monument as the “Zero Point of Islam in the Archipelago” on March 24, 2017. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the historical roots of Islam in Indonesia and highlights the importance of Barus as a cultural heritage site. It suggests the need for further archaeological and historical research in Barus to uncover more evidence about the Islamic civilization in the region. In addition, the findings support the incorporation of Barus into national education curricula and cultural tourism programs to strengthen historical awareness and interreligious harmony.
2025-06-23T05:03:45+00:00##submission.copyrightStatement##http://langgam.ppj.unp.ac.id/index.php/jurnal/article/view/234The Relationship Between Creativity and the Learning Outcomes of Written Batik for Class XI Students at SMK Negeri 8 Padang2025-06-23T08:39:22+00:00Fathiah Rahmifathiahrahmi8@gmail.com
This study focuses on how students' creativity can affect their learning outcomes, which is caused by several factors, namely students being passive in learning, relying on friends for skills, being lazy in doing assignments, and postponing practical assignments. To achieve this vision, the implementation of various educational foundations—philosophical, psychological, sociological, and cultural—is essential in shaping a comprehensive and effective learning environment. This article aims to analyze how different educational foundations are implemented in the educational practices at State Senior High School 1 (SMAN 1) Padang City, West Sumatra, Indonesia. The study adopts a qualitative research approach, employing data collection techniques such as in-depth interviews with teachers, classroom observations, and analysis of school documents related to learning strategies and policies. The research findings indicate that SMAN 1 Padang has made various efforts to incorporate educational foundations into the teaching and learning process. These include applying learner-centered approaches, integrating local cultural values, and fostering student potential in accordance with psychological development stages. However, the study also reveals several challenges that hinder optimal implementation, such as limited teacher training on educational theories, inconsistent application across subjects, and insufficient institutional support for long-term integration. These findings suggest that to effectively realize national education goals, there needs to be a stronger synergy between educational theories and practical implementation in schools. Continuous professional development for teachers, improved collaboration among stakeholders, and school policies that support the application of educational foundations can play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between theory and practice.
2025-06-23T08:34:34+00:00##submission.copyrightStatement##
